Re-Launch with Administrative Privileges<\/b><\/h3>\n

Run Google Drive desktop shortcut with administrative privileges. This does the trick for many people and hopefully, it will bail you out as well. If the problem is solved, simply configure it to run with administrative privileges each time you open it. To do so, right-click the Google Drive desktop shortcut and go to Properties > Compatibility tab. Check the box named \u201cRun this program as an administrator\u201d, and click OK.<\/span><\/p>\n

Verify Folder Security Permissions<\/b><\/h3>\n

Google Drive might have failed to access the <\/span>python.dll<\/b> file stored in temporary application data directory. Configure the <\/span>Temp<\/b> folder security permissions, and grant read and write access permissions to solve this issue.<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Double click <\/span>This PC<\/b> icon on Desktop<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Click <\/span>View<\/b> tab, and check the <\/span>Hidden items<\/b> box<\/span><\/li>\n

      4. Click <\/span>OK<\/b> | <\/span>OK<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Download Missing File<\/b><\/h3>\n

        Python26.dll file may have gone missing or corrupted due to an error or a virus attack. Download the file from any reliable source, extract the zipped contents and finally copy various instances of the same DLL to the following Program Files and Windows directories:<\/span><\/p>\n

        • C:\\Windows\\System32<\/span><\/li>\n

          Provide Adequate Registry Permissions<\/b><\/h3>\n

          Make sure that your computer\u2019s Registry Values are properly configured in order to provide adequate security permissions to the <\/span>SharedAccess<\/span><\/i> sub-key.<\/span><\/p>\n

          1. Press <\/span>Windows Key + R<\/b>; type <\/span>RegEdit<\/b> and click <\/span>OK<\/b><\/li>\n
          2. Locate the following key:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE<\/b> | <\/span>SYSTEM<\/b> | <\/span>CurrentControlSet<\/b> | <\/span>services<\/b><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              1. Right-click a sub-key named <\/span>SharedAccess<\/b> and then choose <\/span>Permissions<\/b><\/li>\n
              2. Click <\/span>Add<\/b> and then enter the following value in the Object Name text box: \u00a0<\/span>NT SERVICE\\mpssvc<\/b><\/li>\n
              3. Click <\/span>Check Names<\/b><\/li>\n
              4. Now you can see the name changed to <\/span>MpsSvc<\/b><\/li>\n
              5. Apply your settings by clicking <\/span>OK<\/b><\/li>\n
              6. Provide full control by clicking the relevant checkbox in the <\/span>Allow<\/b> column<\/span><\/li>\n
              7. Finally, click <\/span>OK<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                Re-run in Compatibility Mode<\/b><\/h3>\n

                Google Drive might be experiencing difficulties due to certain compatibility problems. Re-run it with an earlier Windows environment as outlined below:<\/span><\/p>\n

                1. Go to the following location:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                  • C:\\Program Files\\Google\\Drive<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                    1. Right-click GoogleDriveSync.exe<\/strong> file, choose <\/span>Properties<\/b><\/li>\n

                    3. Check the box labeled <\/span>Run this program in compatibility mode for<\/b>, and then choose an earlier version you prefer to run Google Drive with<\/span><\/li>\n
                    4. Click <\/span>Apply<\/b> | <\/span>OK<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                      Re-register DLL Entries<\/b><\/h3>\n

                      Fix any problems related to the python.dll file that might be causing this problem. Open elevated Command Prompt by pressing <\/span>Windows Key + X<\/b>; and then by choosing <\/span>Command Prompt (Admin)<\/b>. Next, unregister the DLL file by executing this command:<\/span><\/p>\n
