Rename Music Tags<\/b><\/h3>\n

Easy File Renamer edits music tags to provide a meaningful and organized shape to your MP3 files. Some tags can be applied in bulk numbers in a single go, (Album, Year), while others have to be added manually for each song, (Title), etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here is the whole procedure:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Launch Easy File Renamer and click the <\/span>Music Fixer<\/b> tab.<\/span><\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  2. Click the <\/span>MP3 Files<\/b> button and add all the songs you want to edit tags for. You can do this by selecting them and clicking <\/span>Open<\/b>. Repeat this step until you have added all the songs from multiple folders.<\/span><\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  3. Now that the songs have been loaded in the Easy File Renamer interface, you\u2019ll be seeing that the columns for Title, Artist, and the Album will be empty.<\/span><\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  4. Click the <\/span>Bulk Tag Editor<\/b> button (located under the Move tab).<\/span><\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  5. Here you can happily type the new value for the Artist and Album fields. Click <\/span>Update<\/b> once you’re done and you will see the Artist and Album columns show up the new values that will be applied once the tag fixing is performed.<\/span><\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  6. Now to update the <\/span>Title<\/b> tag, you will have to click the yellow pencil icon before each song name, add the new value and click <\/span>Update<\/b>.<\/span><\/li>\n

  7. Finally, click the green <\/span>Rename<\/b> button in the bottom-right to update the tags.<\/span><\/li>\n

  8. Click <\/span>Yes<\/b>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    NOTE 1<\/i><\/b>:<\/span><\/i><\/span> You cannot bulk edit the Title tag, because this tag is unique for each song unlike the Artist and Album tags.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Remove the Numbering from a Song Title<\/b><\/h3>\n

    The second renaming scenario we will be looking at is about removing certain characters from the name of each song. As an example, let\u2019s assume we have songs that are named <\/span>01_first_song<\/b>, <\/span>02_first_song<\/b>, and so on. We want to remove the <\/span>01_<\/b>,<\/span> 02_<\/b>, and so on from the filename. <\/span><\/p>\n

    Easy File Renamer can pull this off within seconds, rather than you having to rename each song manually. Here is how it will happen:<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Launch Easy File Renamer and click the <\/span>Add Files<\/b> button under the <\/span>System Renamer<\/b> tab.<\/span><\/li>\n

      <\/p>\n

    2. Navigate to the folder which contains the songs and add up all the songs until <\/span>99_first_song<\/b> for the moment. Please check <\/span>NOTE 2<\/b> on why we limited the song selection to <\/span>99_first_song<\/b> in this go.<\/span><\/li>\n

      <\/p>\n

    3. In the <\/span>Select Rule<\/b> option dropdown menu on the left, select the <\/span>Trim Text<\/b> option.<\/span><\/li>\n

      <\/p>\n

    4. Enter <\/span>3<\/b> in the <\/span>Length<\/b> textbox. This means that you want to remove <\/span>3<\/b> characters from the filename (<\/span>0<\/b>, <\/span>1<\/b> and <\/span>_<\/b> from 01_first_song), (<\/span>0<\/b>, <\/span>2<\/b> and <\/span>_<\/b> from 02_first_song) until 99_first_song.<\/span><\/li>\n

      <\/p>\n

    5. Now select the <\/span>At Start of Name<\/b> option and then click the <\/span>Add Rule <\/b>button.<\/span><\/li>\n

      <\/p>\n

    6. Look out for the <\/span>Item New Name<\/b> column and if all seems well, click the green <\/span>Rename<\/b> button.<\/span><\/li>\n

      <\/p>\n

    7. Select <\/span>Yes<\/b> in the confirmation prompt.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      NOTE 2<\/i><\/b>:<\/span><\/span> Please remember that this solution helps remove only 3 characters, as we\u2019ve added <\/span>3<\/b> in the Length textbox (step # 4). Once you reach <\/span>100_first_song<\/b>, you will be requiring to remove <\/span>4<\/b> characters from the song name (<\/span>1<\/b>, <\/span>0<\/b>, <\/span>0<\/b> and <\/span>_<\/b>). So you will now add all songs from <\/span>100_first song<\/b> uptil <\/span>999_first song<\/b>, and <\/span>4<\/b> in the Length textbox (because here you want to remove 4 characters.<\/span><\/p>\n

      NOTE 3<\/i><\/b>:<\/span><\/span> Please remember that due to the file naming rules set by <\/span>Windows<\/b>, 2 files located within the same folder cannot be given the exact same name. This means that if you want to remove <\/span>01_<\/b> from <\/span>01_first_song<\/b> and <\/span>02_<\/b> from <\/span>02_first_song<\/b>, both the files shall be renamed to <\/span>first_song<\/b> which isn’t possible. So Windows will proceed to rename them as <\/span>first_song<\/b>, <\/span>first_song(1)<\/b>, and so on.<\/span><\/p>\n
