Microsoft<\/b>\u2019s flagship <\/span>Windows<\/b> family has come a long way since it\u2019s inception.<\/span><\/p>\n

From a very basic, simple and boring interface in the earlier days, it has now evolved into an extremely user-friendly\u00a0<\/span>operating system that rolls out new features every now and then. This guarantees further improvements in the stability and the security of the computer. <\/span>Microsoft<\/b> has had to put in a tremendous amount of efforts to alter the fundamental architecture of <\/span>Windows<\/b> from time to time in order to make the operating system compatible with the latest hardware available at that point of time. However, changing a complex system may result in unpredictable consequences, especially if the system comprises of older hardware which have yet to sync in with the features included in the latest operating system. Although upgrading the hardware is always advisable, sometimes it does not produce results as expected by the user. This article addresses this exact issue and suggests few easy methods to solve this problem without going for any expensive hardware upgrades.<\/span><\/p>\n

Solutions<\/b><\/h2>\n

Solution 1: Disable The Secure Boot in BIOS\/UEFI<\/b><\/h3>\n

Nowadays motherboards consist of this feature known as <\/span>Secure Boot<\/b> which validates the OS loader in order to secure the computer from being exposed to malicious content through the modified OS loader. Even though disabling this feature may solve the problem temporary, it\u2019s highly advised to turn it back on right after upgrading the hardware or once the problem is fixed.<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. When the system is being started up, quickly look at the bottom of the screen to find out the key to access to <\/span>BIOS<\/b>\/<\/span>UEFI<\/b>. Once you\u2019ve discovered it, quickly press that key repeatedly until the computer gets into <\/span>BIOS<\/b>\/<\/span>UEFI<\/b>.

  2. Switch to the <\/span>Authentication<\/b> tab (the tab name may vary depending on the <\/span>BIOS<\/b>\/<\/span>UEFI<\/b>). In some systems, you will rather come across a <\/span>Security<\/b> tab or <\/span>System Configuration<\/b> tab.

  3. Disable <\/span>Secure Boot<\/b>, and then enable <\/span>Legacy Mode<\/b>. If there is <\/span>Hybrid Mode<\/b> instead of <\/span>Legacy Mode<\/b>, turn it on.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Solution 2: Repair The System Startup<\/b><\/h3>\n

    Since this issue is directly related to the <\/span>Windows<\/b> startup, the repairing startup function in the <\/span>Windows Recovery Console<\/b> can be used to solve it.<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Restart the system 3 times by pressing the restart button on the system unit (hard reboot) until the <\/span>It looks like Windows didn\u2019t load correctly<\/b> message is displayed.<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Click either <\/span>See Advanced Repair Options<\/b> or <\/span>Troubleshoot<\/b>.

    6. Select the administrative account to initiate the repairing process. If it is password protected, you will be prompted to enter the password in the next phase.

      Solution 3: Make A Clean Installation Instead of Upgrading<\/b><\/h3>\n

      Upgrading from <\/span>Windows 7<\/b> to <\/span>Windows 8<\/b>\/ <\/span>8.1<\/b> is the cause of the <\/span>Selected Boot Image did not Authenticate in Windows 10<\/b> issue as the <\/span>Secure Boot<\/b> was introduced in <\/span>Windows 8<\/b>. Therefore, instead of upgrading, go for a fresh installation. <\/span>Windows<\/b> can be installed into the same partition, or into a different partition depending on the contents of the particular partition.<\/span><\/p>\n

      1. Insert the <\/span>Windows<\/b> Installation media (Usually it comes as a <\/span>USB<\/b> pen drive or a <\/span>DVD<\/b> drive). If you don\u2019t have a <\/span>Windows<\/b> installation media, jump to the next section titled <\/span>How to Make a Windows Installation Media?<\/b> to learn how to create one<\/span>.<\/span> However, if you already have one, insert the media and boot into it (Refer to the motherboard manual to find out how to boot into the <\/span>USB<\/b>\/<\/span>DVD<\/b> drive). Press any key to access <\/span>Windows<\/b> startup. From the next screen, select the Language and click <\/span>Next<\/b> to proceed to the next phase.

      2. Click on <\/span>Install now<\/b>.

      3. Enter the product key in this phase to validate the operating system right after the installation is completed. You may choose to skip this step at this stage, but then you will have to validate <\/span>Windows<\/b> once the installation is complete.

        How to Make a Windows Installation Media?<\/b><\/h4>\n

        This side tutorial describes how to create a <\/span>Windows 8.1<\/b>\/<\/span>10<\/b> installation media using a <\/span>USB<\/b> flash drive and a <\/span>DVD<\/b> drive. It is strongly recommended to backup the files in the <\/span>USB<\/b> pen drive as <\/span>Windows<\/b> doesn\u2019t warn before formatting the pen drive for writing on it. This side tutorial requires a computer system with <\/span>Windows 10<\/b> installed in it.<\/span><\/p>\n

        1. Download the relevant <\/span>Media Creation Toolkit<\/b> from the following locations.

        2. Right-click the file and select <\/span>Run as administrator<\/b>.<\/span><\/li>\n
        3. Select <\/span>Create installation media for another PC<\/b>.
