Use Google Photos on iPhone and Upload Photos to Google Drive

iPhone users may not have an affinity for Android products but in some cases, exceptions have to be made. One such example is Google Drive. Since Apple has yet to introduce an equally good service, Apple users have only one option for sharing and storing photos and images. Since Google Drive is easily compatible with iPhone as well, Apple users do not see why they should not be using it. Furthermore, iPhones in most cases do not feature the capability to store and share large image files and this is where this article comes in. We are going to help you upload Google Photos on your iPhone to Google Drive so that you get a head start, the next time you are confused about the process. Let’s begin.

Step 1

Begin by downloading Google Drive on your iPhone, if you haven’t already. If you already have the app installed, skip this step. Make sure that your Google Drive app is updated as well.

Step 2

Launch the Google Drive app. Once the app is launched, you will see a multi-colored ‘+’ icon at the bottom right corner. Tap that icon.

Step 3

The iPhone will display a range of options to create a new folder, document, sheet and upload new files. Since you intend to upload photos from your iPhone, click on ‘Upload’.

Step 4

Browse through the folders on your iPhone and select the folder you like to upload to Google Drive.

Step 5

Once uploaded, Google Drive will provide a ‘Locate’ link that will direct you straight to the newly uploaded photos. This is an impressive feature, which prevents you from visiting your Google Drive each time and spending quite a bit of time searching for photos.

Managing Photos

Google Drive offers only 15 GB of storage for free. However, if you want more storage, you will have to pay for the 30 GB package. With that being said, we are going to share some photo management tips to use your Google Drive space efficiently.

Create Folders

If you have plenty of photos to upload, chances are high that your Google Drive will become unorganized sooner or later. This will make it appear cluttered and you will waste sufficient time locating the images you want. Therefore, it is suggested that folders are created so that particular types of photos are stored in their respective folder types. For example, if you have photos related to high school, create a folder titled ‘High school’ and store all the photos inside the folder.

Remove Unnecessary Photos

If you have older photos or particularly those you don’t need anymore, you can delete them to free-up your storage.  The same goes for your iPhone as well. You will have to delete unnecessary and photos you do not use, to make space for new photos, since the storage space on your device is limited. This way, not only will you be utilizing space efficiently but saving important storage space as well.
