Send A File From PC To OneDrive Using File Explorer

There was a time when uploading files from your PC to OneDrive was a difficult task. Today, Microsoft has made it a lot easier by integrating OneDrive into Windows. Now you can install the OneDrive application and simply drag and drop the files from your hard drive into the OneDrive application. OneDrive application will upload your files automatically once you’re connected to the Internet.

Adding OneDrive to the File Explorer

Sending files from PC to OneDrive using File Explorer requires that you set up and link your OneDrive account to your computer.

To begin, simply click the search box and type “OneDrive”. OneDrive will appear in the results, click it. Upon clicking OneDrive, you will need an email address and password to sign in. If you do not have a OneDrive account already, obtain one for free.

Follow the instructions on your screen and choose your desired OneDrive folder. If you have signed into OneDrive on the same PC previously, it might be that your PC already has an existing OneDrive folder. Once you are done selecting, you will see all your OneDrive files appear in File Explorer. Now you can easily move files both in and out of OneDrive.

How to Upload a File?

To upload a file, you need to locate and select the OneDrive folder on your PC. If you wish to upload a file, you can simply copy and paste it into this location. Furthermore, you can move almost any type of file apart from just documents. Once the files are moved here, they will be automatically synced to OneDrive as well.

To check whether your files have been successfully uploaded, select a file and right-click to see the “View Online” option. 

Sharing Files through the “Share” Feature

Windows 10 allows its users to share files using the “Share” feature. If you were to click this option, Windows allows you to share your files using any compatible app existing on your pc. For example, you can choose Skype to share files with a specific person or Mail them using a mail app.

Sharing Files through email

Another effective and efficient way of sharing files is through email. Although there is a limit imposed on the size of some files, still you can email multiple documents and files of other types with ease. Furthermore, you can also visit cloud storage and directly share the files as well. To keep things private and secure, you can also share a link with the recipient that will only allow them to access the file.
